Tenure Track Faculty Positions in Metabolomics & Glycomics
Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center

The Froedtert Health Network (FHN), Children’s Wisconsin (CHW), Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), and the MCW Cancer Center (CC) are launching a transformational Metabolomics and Glycomics (MG) Initiative. This MG initiative will expand an already robust MG environment that offers a strong cadre of basic and clinician scientists invested in metabolomics, redox biology, chemical biology, glycobiology, mass spectrometry, and a rapidly expanding radiomics and pathomics focus group. This rich and highly collaborative environment enhances institutional and national research programs, and provides expertise for the training of clinical and basic science fellows and junior faculty in biochemistry, mass spectrometry, and radiomics and pathomics. A robust investigator-initiated clinical research pipeline with dedicated expertise in radio-imaging and related clinical trials with an interest in metabolomics supports the MG initiative.

The Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus houses MCW, the Cancer Center, the Center for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry Research, the Shared Mass Spectrometry Facility for Small Molecule analysis, the Versiti Blood Research Institute, the Versiti Translational Glycomics Center, the Center for Imaging Research and the Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine Center and is the hub for the Froedtert Health Network and Children’s Wisconsin. As part of this MG Initiative, the MCW CC seeks to recruit six faculty within the next 3-5 years.

Available Positions
In the inaugural year, MCW CC invites applications for five tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with the long-term goal of developing and translating novel approaches for metabolome, glycome, and glycoproteome analysis and imaging of heme malignancies and solid cancers. Endowed chairs in MG are available for qualified senior candidates with exceptional creativity and track record. Research areas of interest include basic cancer cell biology, cancer cell biochemistry, tumor microenvironment, cancer immuno-genomics, cancer stem cell metabolism, population-based metabolomics and disparities, metabolite-based therapy development, monitoring and biomarker discovery, metabolite radio- and MALDI-TOF imaging, bioinformatics and systems biology. Metro-Milwaukee is a vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. MCW is intent on attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse workforce and faculty body that reflects the community we serve. We value diversity of backgrounds, experience, thought, and perspectives to advance excellence in science and medicine. MCW is a welcoming campus community with a strong culture of collaboration, partnership and engagement with our surrounding community.

Who are we looking for?
Eligible candidates will have an MD, PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with achievement, experience, and training and teaching activities. Appointment will be in an appropriate basic science or clinical department at MCW. These positions provide attractive start-up packages and outstanding opportunities for collaboration with basic, translational and clinical investigators. Successful candidates will have track records of creativity and productivity, a desire to integrate into our exciting, collaborative, and growing community of researchers, and a dedication to contribute to our values of diversity and openness. They will be expected to mount a productive and innovative research program, to obtain outside funding, and to participate actively in graduate and post-graduate teaching, training and mentorship.

How do you apply?
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. For inquiries, please contact Nancy Dahms, PhD ([email protected]) and Christopher Schultz, MD ([email protected]), Co-Chairs, MG Recruitment Committee. Applicants should upload a single PDF containing a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research with a description of significant research accomplishments and future research plans (four pages maximum), and contact information for a minimum of four references at: https://careers.peopleclick.com/careerscp/client_medcollegewi/external_faculty/search.do requisition ID 27710. MCW is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty and strongly encourages applications from individuals in groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences.
