 Position Description

Supported by the American Cancer Society, the Stem Cell & Cancer Research Lab directed by Dr. Yu-Chieh (Jack) Wang in the Department of Dermatology and Cancer Center at MCW is seeking a motivated and dedicated member to join their team. We are recruiting for a position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. Candidates with expertise in human pluripotent stem cells, organoids, systems biology (single-cell RNA sequencing in particular), tumor immunology, cell signaling, rodent models, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology are ideal. The successful candidate will work in a team-oriented environment to independently design and execute research projects strongly relevant to 1) tumorigenesis in melanoma and glioblastoma and/or 2) neurodevelopmental defects due to the dysregulation of N-glycanase 1 and other glycoenzymes. Lab website: https://www.mcw.edu/departments/dermatology/research/wang-laboratory.

Key responsibilities for the successful candidate include:

• Design and carry out complex cell and molecular biology experiments.

• Perform live animal surgery in rodents and other relevant animal experiments when needed.

• Assist in development and implementation of research protocols.

• Record and compile accurate data of experimental results.

• Contribute to data analysis/interpretation and report/manuscript writing.

• Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff as needed.

• May oversee the work of other laboratory personnel, including training, development, and daily work direction.

• Help monitor inventory and order lab supplies.

Qualifications

Highly motivated candidates with a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) in stem cell biology, cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, glycobiology, immunology, or other relevant fields are encouraged to apply. Experience and expertise in cell and molecular biology (human pluripotent stem cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing, gene cloning), glycobiology, cancer biology, and/or neurodevelopmental biology is highly desired. Having experience in computational analysis for a large data set (e.g., RNAseq or gene expression array data) is a big plus but not required. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to perform independent thinking, communicate well in writing and speaking, have strong skills in data organization, give great attention to details, and be able to excel in a team-oriented environment.

Additional Information

This position requires a strong commitment to the projects and certain flexibility to work after regular hours (e.g., evenings and weekends), but it offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in an intellectually stimulating environment using state-of-the-art facilities. We will also offer a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience to the successful candidate.
