Full Professor of Biochemistry

The Center of Biochemistry of the Hannover Medical School (MHH) seeks to recruit a Full Professor of Biochemistry (following Professor Dr. Rita Gerardy-Schahn), starting from April 1st, 2022.

The successful candidate should represent the discipline Biochemistry in research and academic teaching and will head the Institute of Clinical Biochemistry of the Center of Biochemistry. We are seeking an internationally acknowledged, integrative personality working on scientific topics related to pathobiochemistry and to the research priorities of the MHH. The scientific focus should support the existing MHH priorities infection/immunity, transplantation/regeneration, biomedical engineering/implants and/or oncology. The MHH provides an innovative research environment, an excellent infrastructure, efficient core units and a direct link to the clinics. The successful candidate should collaborate both with clinicians and basic researchers in solving disease-relevant questions. 

Applicants are expected to hold a habilitation or a comparable qualification, to have a very good, internationally acknowledged publication record, to have been successful in winning competitive research grants and to have solid experience in, and show enthusiasm for, teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. The successful applicant should become involved in the MHH undergraduate course in medicine (HannibaL), as well as in the MSc programs Biochemistry and Biomedicine and the structured doctoral programmes of the Hannover Biomedical Research School.
