Post Doctoral Research Associate

The Tsui Lab  in the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) at the University of Georgia is seeking to recruit a highly motivated postdoc to join our new team in studying the role of glycosylation in cell-cell communication. Multiple projects on elucidating the genetic regulatory network of glycosylation, deorphanizing human lectins, and investigating specific contributions of glycan-lectin interactions in neuroinflammation are available. 

The projects will primarily use cultured cells in a BSL2 environment along with CRISPR screens, flow cytometry, microscopy, genomics, and glycoproteomics. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to design, perform, and document experiments as well as disseminate their work through conferences and published manuscripts. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher will be expected to provide scientific leadership within the lab by mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. 

Applicants must hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field, with a strong background in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, and basic biochemistry required. Candidates with a proven track record of research productivity and independence are preferred. While not strictly required, expertise in any of the following will be highly valued: glycobiology, functional genomics, iPSC, complement biology, blood-brain barrier biology. 

The CMM is adjacent to and works closely with the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC), providing ready access to state-of-the-art facilities and a highly collaborative community of glycoscience researchers.
