Senior/Staff Scientist
Translational Biology

South San Francisco, California

At InterVenn, we believe that no one should ever be blindsided by disease. Our technology enables and empowers the understanding of glycoproteomics, an additional, innovative layer of biology beyond the genome and the proteome, using a simple blood draw. InterVenn’s powerful solutions are broadening humankind’s understanding and treatment of a range of diseases, including cancer. We look forward to our team being joined by new members who have diverse perspectives and backgrounds, who are solution-oriented, and who are ready to challenge the status quo.  If this is you, please read-on and apply. Together, we will change the world.

We are seeking a motivated researcher to join a new cross-functional team focused on pursuing a mechanistic understanding of the changes in glycoprotein biomarkers associated with disease. The ideal candidate will have experience in analysis and interpretation of large biomarkers datasets, and development of assays to investigate mechanism of action.

Responsibilities

    • Integrate biomarker datasets with clinical findings to generate actionable hypotheses about disease mechanisms or drug response
    • Develop and employ in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches to enable mechanism of action studies, supporting identification and characterization of critical pathways and targets
    • Produce high quality data in line with project timelines
    • Manage external projects
    • Present data at team meetings
    • Actively participate in preparation of scientific manuscripts and patent applications
    • Collaborate with scientists in the team and across groups
    • Stay ahead of research and industry trends in diagnostics and drug development and identify potential areas for application of the InterVenn platform
    • Keep good records of experiments in electronic lab notebook. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Promote a culture of transparency and traceability across all aspects of laboratory operations

 Qualifications

    • PhD degree in a relevant scientific field (cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology, bioinformatics or similar) with 4+ years of relevant experience. Industry experience is preferred. Familiarity with glycobiology is a plus
    • Extensive experience in design and execution of pre-clinical research and mechanism of action studies. Experience in clinical biomarker and reverse translational research is preferred
    • Hands-on experience with cell-based assays using cell lines and primary cells
    • Proficiency with the techniques used in translational research, including flow cytometry, ELISA, IHC, Western blot, NGS, single cell methodologies, gene modulation techniques, 3D cultures and ex vivo tissue modeling
    • Familiarity with complex in vivo models for oncology, immuno-oncology or inflammatory disease
    • Ability to mine large, multiomic datasets using statistical software
    • Proficiency in utilizing software such as GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Office and FlowJo for data analysis and figure preparation
    • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment
    • Track record of cutting-edge research as evidenced by publications and patents
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and interact effectively with colleagues
    • Sincere interest in improving patient lives
