Biomedical Research Glycobiologist
Summary:
We seek an experienced and self-driven expert in metabolomics, glycomics, and proteomics with experience in glycoproteomics to join our basic science, medically oriented, highly collaborative and supportive team. Substantial experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomic/glycoproteomic data acquisition, management, and interpretation of bioinformatic data in collaboration with faculty experts in these areas.
A multi-team environment will carry out these studies usinf state-of-the-art instrumentation available in house. Independent research and publication for career development is encouraged. You will manage and coordinate multiple projects covering sample preparation, data analysis and interpretation. You will be a major player in a team that will build, organize, curate, and maintain a metabolomic and glycoproteomic databases related to Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation and L-Fucose metabolism using stable isotope-tagged monosaccharides for glycomic analysis.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop and execute metabolic, proteomic and glycoproteomic experiments.
- Analyze and interpret proteomic and glycoproteomic MS data acquired by DDA, DIA and TMT using state-of-the art bioinformatic workflows.
- Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting LC-MS instrumentation and perform rigorous routine instrument quality control steps.
- Coordinate data collection and integration across multiple experiments.
- Collaborate with multiple labs to design and execute projects for determining changes in protein and glycosylation in multiple glycosylation disorders
- Prepare reports, co-author publications and present results at meetings and/or conferences. Contribute data to grant applications.
Required Experience:
- Ph.D in biological sciences, chemistry, or analytical chemistry. Prefer at least 3 years of experience in metabolism, proteomics, glycoproteomics.
- Multiple first author papers in these areas along with publications of collaborative work in related areas.
- Experience and knowledge of the operation and maintenance of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry systems, especially Thermo Orbitraps.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience with complex sample preparation for mass spectrometry workflows.
- Extensive experience in quantitative mass spectrometry-based strategies for metabolomic, glycoproteomic, glycomic and proteomic analyses. And solid hands-on experience with computational tools for proteomics data analysis including Byonic or pGlyco or MSFragger, MaxQuant or ProteomeDiscoverer or Spectromine and Spectronaut or DIA-NN.
- Experience with bioinformatics platforms in data analysis across physiological systems spanning gene ontology and metabolism, additional training provided.
