7th Glycan Forum Berlin - Wednesday, March 20, 2013 - Friday, March 22, 2013 All Day March 20-22, 2013 under the motto "From Basic Science to Global Markets" instead of the seventh Glycan Forum Berlin. The conference will bring together leading international researchers in the field of glyco-science. Responsible is Professor Peter H. Seeberger, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam.
Carbohydrates or sugar, are now - in addition to genomics and proteomics - as the "third language of life." Because sugar assume communication functions between cells and organisms. They are of the code with which the cells communicate. Complex sugars are ubiquitous as cell coatings in nature and can thus also for vaccine development, such to poverty-related and neglected diseases, serve. The exploration of their diverse and often complex structures becoming increasingly important in all areas of the life sciences in importance. Using modern analytical and process automation, specific features characterize and synthesize specific structures. In this way, new products come in a wide range of applications used.
Besides the presentation of methods and results from basic research are therefore increasingly also issues from the application and product development discussed. The Glycan Forum Berlin is unique in its interdisciplinary approach and the involvement of industry, media and politics at national and European level in this form. Furthermore a annual Focus on current developments and thus acts as a starting point for international cooperation and networks. Under this year's main theme "Glycoscience in Asia" globally recognized Researchers from six Asian countries before current research and development projects.
